A Free Printie. A Quarter Scale Sofa. Just print it out and assemble.

Notice:    My Site is fixed. You can now download  The Mini Sofa and the Happiness Poster.

This morning I have a surprise for you. A Quarter scale dollhouse Sofa that you can make with Card Stock and Poster Board. Print the piece out on Card Stock and leave some of them just Card Stock. On the indicated pieces cut around the pieces in a general area then glue to Poster Board and cut out. The Poster Board pieces are the pieces that need to be thicker such as the tops of furniture, etc. The Card Stock that I used is 110 pound but you could probably use a bit lighter weight such as 90 pound..
Above is a picture of the whole set that will furnish La Petite Maison. It is a little house  (pictured below)  in Quarter Scale. You will have room for this one. It is very little and easy to make. See photo below. To see Mini furniture and La Petite Maison go here..

A Poster for you. + A medication side effect

Hi everyone, I have a Happiness poster for you.

Good Morning. As I was debating my life this morning this thought occurred to me. After having been told that a certain ailment was "all in my head" for over a year and then finding out that it was a medication that I was taking, I thought that it might be a good idea to tell everyone of my experience.

For over a year I have been coughing and coughing. No sleep. I can't go to church anymore. If I had let myself I would have become very depressed but I kept on working on my Paper Projects. Since I had cancer six years ago and have COPD and Asthma the doctors thought that was the reason. The Asthma and allergies were part of the reason but the main reason. Lisinopril. Yes the blood pressure medicine. Finally when I was in a new doctors office she heard me cough and said. That is Lisinopril !!! She put me on a new  blood pressure medication and the coughing is much diminished. It may take some time, (it has been about a month and a half) for it to totally go away. Then there is always the Asthma allergy's but I am so much better. I can sleep. I am not confined to my room coughing away. Thank you Lord and Thank you Dr. Gloria.
I read on the internet that at least 20% of the people who take Lisinopril develop a bad cough after taking it for a while.
It is a good thing for you to know so I am passing it on. Perhaps this information will help someone.

Meanwhile, this morning I had this thought and I made the above Poster of it. You can print it out. You can find it on my website as a downloadable .pdf file Look in the Free Printies section.
Have a great day

Two great Paper Model Sites and my New Pirate Ship. Pirates of The Chesapeake Bay.

Hello All

I love Paper Models as you can tell. Here is a new one on one of my favorite sites.
http://www.robives.com/blog/bird

A great little Paper Bird to make. Rob Ives who owns this site makes the most interesting Paper Models and they MOVE. this is a new free one but you can buy them if you want. Kids love them.

Also Below, some great  Paper Models here.

 A Monster Control Center

                                              A Castle

A Rocket Gun

http://ravensblight.com/papertoys.html

If you have never made things from paper and cardboard, now is the time to try it. These are great projects to make with your children.

Aren't these great models. I don't know either person. I hope they don't mind me putting these up. Believe it or not these are FREE.
I wish they were my creations. Oh well, I am still trying to make more things.

This is one of my new creations. It is a Paper Pirate Ship.

This was made especially for the gift shop on our island. I am selling it there. It hangs from the ceiling like a mobile. If any of you would be interested in a pattern to make it. I can put the pattern up for sale on my Etsy shop. You can write it in the comments. This one is made for our island. We have a history of Pirates here. So I made it a Pirates of the Chesapeake Bay Ship. The decoupage is made from printed facts of the Pirates that roamed the Chesapeake Bay. On the back of the sales is an ancient map print of the Bay.  This one is One Of A Kind.
I am now working on an Angel Ship for our Pastor now. I have so many ideas.

A little Bible to print out. One inch scale, half scale and quarter scale.

The little Bible

I have re-made my little Bible. It is in several sizes that can be used for Dollhouses in each scale, even Quarter Scale, even though you probably won't be able to read it. There are many ways to use it. You can make an open bible from Polymer Clay or Paper Clay or make a tiny book and use this for the cover and the interior open page. There are many ways to do this and you are all so clever I am sure you will figure out lots of ways to do this. It would be a nice project for children. The passage on the open two pages is the one about Love. I like this one.
If you want to send pictures of your Bible I am going to make a page on my website where all of you can send pictures of all of your projects to be displayed.
Go to http:/papercraftsite.com
to download the .pdf file.

A tour of My Island - Smith Island MD.

What a beautiful day it is here on the island. Smith Island MD. is not well known but is very alive in culture and tradition.

What a history there is here. It is not a fancy island like Nantucket or those other touristy islands. It is real and it is wonderfully interesting. There are very nice houses and there are abandoned houses. Many Photographers and Artists come here to take pictures and to paint. The wild life and the birds are incredible. Most of the people here make their living by crabbing for the Blue Crab that the island is famous for. In the winter they go for oysters. It isn't an easy life but it is a peaceful one.
Our house is the one with the blue roof.

Most of the islanders, except for a few people like my son who have retired here, are water men and are related back to when the island was settled in the sixteen hundreds. There are true legends of Pirates that would come ashore and plunder the towns.

This is an excerpt from a Smith Island Community Profile,

"Smith Island was first charted by Captain John Smith, and was named Russell Isles, after
the doctor on Smith’s boat (Smith 1624). The islands were first settled in 1657, and were
renamed for Captain Henry Smith, who was granted 1,000 acres here in 1679 (Scheller 2000).
The island was first used for grazing livestock."

The island has a colorful history but is known mostly for it's old fashioned way of living. All of the people here are, kind, helpful, and wonderful people.

An islander riding a bicycle. Most of the people use Golf Carts and some have cars.

I went for a walk but most of the pictures I took are just in my neighborhood. There are much more interesting places on the island and I hope to get some more pictures soon. We do have tourists that come here in the summer. Most are fascinated by the history of the island and most visit our two restaurants for our famous Crab Cakes and the Smith Island Cake which is many layers with frosting between each layer. It is the official desert of Maryland. People also visit our museum.
We have Bed and Breakfast Inns in many places on the island.

Our next door neighbors house. Wonderful people. Brenda brings me the most delicious dinners when my son and daughter in law are away visiting the family.

More pictures of the houses here. There are so many Roses here. Most of them bloom all summer. It is such a pretty place and is just so natural. Our restaurant, Rukes Crab Shack is a real place that has been here since the 1950s. It isn't fancy but it has real things in it. Old pictures, vintage pieces and chairs that don't match. This isn't Red Lobster décor. This is the real thing. I will get a picture of both restaurants soon. Our newer restaurant is a beautiful place. Lot's of room, a gift shop, a large deck where you can eat, if you desire and a wonderful view of the bay. You can watch the boats come in and out. In fact if you come here you will come over on a large boat that will deliver you right to the deck of The Bayside Inn.

More of our neighbors houses.

The Fishing Boats.

A Golf Cart. I must learn how to drive one soon. It is very easy.

Looking down our street toward the Church and the restaurants.
That is our tour for today. I hope that you have enjoyed it. Tomorrow I will have more on my work on The Fairy Cottage and The Paper Pirate Ship.
Take care, Barbara
